More Than Treating a Disease — Rebuilding
Lives To fulfill our
mission to bring about "positive change" in
the lives of our residents, Samaritan House strongly
believes in treating the whole person, not just HIV/AIDS.
Housing
Samaritan House provides permanent
housing with 52 single-occupancy units at its current
facility. Through our Genesis Program, we provide
off-site rental assistance for 22 residents. Tenants
contribute to their housing costs based on their ability
to pay. Because of our ongoing wait list and our desire
to unite families, we are expanding. See our section
on The Villages at Samaritan
House for more information.
Nutrition
All residents are provided
three hot meals per day. We have on-site nutritionists
who make sure that the special nutritional needs of
our residents are met.
Transportation
Samaritan
House provides transportation for residents to and
from doctor appointments and job interviews.
Medical
Treatment
Samaritan
House provides on-site nursing services as well as
medical case managers who see that the medical needs
of residents are met. We use the services of local
hospitals and clinics to provide a full range of treatment
services.
Psychological
Again, Samaritan
House uses local providers to offer a full range of
psychological services for the treatment of mental
retardation, depression, substance abuse, and other
mental wellness issues.
Life
Skills
Samaritan
House provides training in a variety of skills, such
as job interviewing, computer skills, financial management,
etc.
