Run to Joe's Celebrates Ten
Years! Join Samaritan House and
friends for this annual 5k run
It's
hard to believe that it's been ten years since the
first Run to Joe's, one of the biggest, most exciting
benefit runs in Fort Worth. On Saturday, March
24th, Joe T. Garcia's Restaurant in the Fort Worth
Stockyards will host the Tenth Annual Run
to Joes, kicking off at 8:00 AM. This
popular 5K race benefits Samaritan House, a residential
facility for men and women living with HIV/AIDS.
Also, new this year, the Run will be chip timed with
the IPICO chip. And New Balance is generously awarding
GIFT CERTIFICATES to the top three
finishers in each age bracket! To register before
the race, stop by Samaritan House at 929 Hemphill,
or register
online.
Entry
fees are as follows:
Single Runner
(Through March 17):
$18
Single Runner (After March
17):
$20
Team Runner (Teams of 4 or
more):
$15
Race Day Registration:
$25
Your entry fee entitles you to a
colorful T-shirt and admission to the after-race party
at Joe T's. Registration for this race will
fill up quickly, so early commitment is encouraged.
Run to Joe's has continued
to grow steadily since its inception. The first
race saw more than five hundred runners turn out to
compete for the hand-carved parrot trophies offered
as prizes. Each subsequent year, the number
of participants has increased by as much as five hundred
per year or more. Last year, more than 3000
runners and volunteers took part in the festivities.
Aside from contributing
to what is the largest fundraiser of the year for
Samaritan House, there are other benefits to being
a part of this year's run. In addition to the
T-shirt, every paying participant gets free food,
courtesy of Joe T Garcia's, as well as refreshments
from Miller Brewing. Of course, soft drinks
and water are available for those who might not be
ready for a beer so early in the morning. There
will be children's activities, as well as trophies
for all age groups. Through this annual event,
Samaritan House not only makes thousands of new friends
in the community, but they also help to raise a portion
of their operating costs for the coming year.
